What unique traits do E-cloth and geckos have in common?

The most unique thing about geckos is their uncanny ability to climb smooth and vertical surfaces – and even run upside down on ceilings – with ease. It isn’t suction cups, hooks or glue that allows this uncommon mobility. It’s the millions of micron-scale “hairs” (setae) on each toe.

This microscopic backward-projecting hair covered by tiny pads allows this amazing adhesive force. These hairs/pads on the feet of geckos are also self cleaning, usually remove any clogging dirt within a few steps.

Just as the gecko’s wondrous mobility attribute comes from microscopic hair-like strands, E-cloth’s amazing cleaning power comes from its microscopic fiber. Each fiber is 1/100th the width of a human hair and is split into 16 fiber strands resulting in a standard E-cloth having an extraordinary 500 million strands per cloth. These millions of tiny “cleaning edges” grab, trap and absorb grime from all hard surfaces. Like the geckos feet, they are easily cleaned with a warm rinse to continue performing
